In partnership with our fiscal sponsor, New Sun Rising, we are pleased to announce that The Greater Pittsburgh Festival of Books has received a $50,000 grant from The Heinz Endowments to support the 2023 festival! This grant helps us get one step closer to securing the necessary funding for the second Greater Pittsburgh Festival of Books, scheduled for May 13, 2023 in East Liberty. After a successful inaugural year, plans to make the 2023 festival bigger and better are underway.
The GPFB is a free community event that enables us to expose individuals of all ages to the region’s robust literary community. The first festival demonstrated and enhanced Pittsburgh’s historic support for literacy and equality, while proving that there is a desire in the community to continue exploring and expanding the city’s literary offerings.
For the GPFB to be recognized by The Heinz Endowments, one of Pittsburgh’s cherished cultural organizations, is a wonderful validation of what we started out to do 3 years ago, and I invite others to join The Endowments’ generosity to ensure next year’s festival exceeds what last year’s accomplished.
While grants like this one from The Heinz Endowments are what allow us to continue celebrating the Greater Pittsburgh area and Western Pennsylvania’s rich literary community, there are other ways you can support us, too.
